Comfort. Believe it or not, you will spend a large portion of your lifetime sleeping. With that in mind, it is important that your bed be comfortable and that fact must be considered when selecting waterbeds.

Size. Waterbeds are heavy, so try a conservative approach when shopping. For instance, if a queen size will do, avoid the king size waterbeds if you don’t need the extra room. The additional weight, expense and space will be unnecessary unless it’s something that you really have to have.

Style. Not all waterbeds are the same and, in fact, are available in different sizes and styles. Make sure that you select the right one for your lifestyle and personal preference.

Weight. Some floors may not be sturdy enough for waterbeds, so make sure that your floor is secure enough to hold their massive weight when filled with water.

Warranty. This is important with any major purchase, including that of waterbeds. These are especially expensive and are also extremely susceptible to leaks or punctures. When shopping for waterbeds, make sure that your selection carries a manufacturer’s warranty.

Maintenance. How easy is it to change the water and how often must it be done? This is a very important question to learn the answer to prior to purchasing waterbeds. These are much different than simply flipping the mattress and require much greater care, so be sure to learn the specs on your soon-to-be bed.

Price. The cost is a huge factor facing individuals who are shopping for waterbeds. Because of their manufacturing process, waterbeds are extremely expensive. The smaller models are undoubtedly the most affordable, but even they are pricier than a typical bed.

Delivery. If at all possible, it is best for the store to deliver and setup your new waterbed. They are experienced in handling waterbeds and, as such, are more likely to get it delivered and placed safely in your home. Before purchasing any waterbed, ask if the store provides delivery and setup. If so, inquire about the fees associated with any such delivery.

Lifestyle. Children may not fully appreciate the care that goes into owning a waterbed and, therefore, may not be best suited for a waterbed. Jumping on the bed is never safe, but especially not on waterbeds. If you have little ones, make sure that you are in their company as they take a look at your new bed.

Tip # 10

Personality. After sleeping on a regular bed, waterbeds are a real eye opener. In order to fully enjoy their design, a certain personality is needed to appreciate a waterbed. If you don’t like the water or tend to suffer from sea sickness, you may not be ready for this type of bed just yet.
