Colored Diamonds; Are They for You?

By: Shayna Schnereger

Ever heard of colored diamonds? Many people haven’t heard of these rare gems; or if they have heard of them it’s only when talking about big name celebrities. Stars like Jennifer Lopez and Oprah are known for their taste in beautiful, expensive, colored diamonds.

Colored diamonds are rarer than white diamonds. They can also be much more expensive depending on the diamond itself. But there are some of these diamonds out there that are affordable for everyday people.

Among these rare gems are both pink and blue diamonds. Pink diamonds and blue diamonds are the two most rare and most expensive diamonds in the world; they’re exquisite. Once you set your eyes on them, you’ll be hooked.

If you’re shopping for these rare diamonds and you want the real thing be sure not to be fooled by an imitation. Some stores advertise color treated diamonds as if they were genuine. A color treated diamond is one that has been manipulated in order to change the color.

If you want one of these color treated diamonds because they’re not as expensive, then go ahead and buy one. They’re still beautiful but not as eye catching as the real thing. But if you’re searching for the real thing be careful when you’re shopping. Before you spend any money on "rare" colored diamonds make sure to have it checked out by someone reputable. If you take it to a gemologist that has no financial interest in the diamond then you should be able to trust what they tell you.

Colored diamonds make a great gift for someone you love. If you’re picking out colored diamonds for someone else make sure that you pay attention to their skin tone. Unlike white diamonds some colors look better with certain skin tones. The pink diamonds seem to match a wider variety of skin colors. But those blue diamonds sure do make a statement.

As I already said colored diamonds can be a lot more expensive than white diamonds. But they are so rare and so exquisite that when you wear them you feel amazing. If you shop online you may find some incredible deals when it comes to prices.

Shayna knows all about diamonds; colored diamonds, clear diamonds, big ones and small ones, she’ll love to help you find the perfect one. For more helpful tips about buying colored diamonds visit her at http://online-jewelry-guide.com
