Four Reasons Why You’ll Want to Buy a Titanium Watch

By: T Jas

Why on earth would you want a titanium watch? Before we give you the reasons, here’s a brief glossary of watch parts.

Three parts of a watch can be made of titanium: the case, bezel, and the strap. The case houses the internal workings of your watch so you want this to be strong and durable. The bezel is the surface of your watch that surrounds the face plate. The bezel may be stationary or it may move in one or both directions, depending on the function of the watch.

1. Titanium Watches Are Available In Many Styles

Titanium watches are made mainly for men although a few titanium watches for women can be found. The styles range from sport, diver, and pilot watches to dressy. Some even have bezels inlaid with diamonds or zirconia. Perhaps a great gift for that favorite woman in your life?

2. A Significantly Lighter Watch

Many of the sport, diver, and pilot watches are bulky and heavy due to the use of stainless steel for the case. Many watch manufacturers today are making the cases and straps out of titanium as is as strong as steel yet 45% lighter. A lighter watch may also be preferred by women. In the online forums a couple of men stated they liked having a heavy watch. If you are one of the ones that prefer a lighter watch, go with titanium.

3. Ideal for Diver Watches

Titanium is resistant to salt-water corrosion making it an ideal metal for diver watches. The water resistance varied from a low of 200 meters (660 feet) to 1000 meters (3300 ft).

4. Titanium Watches are Unique

Since titanium is a hard metal, the watch case can’t be mechanically stamped into shape in an automated assembly line fashion. Instead it has to be meticulously machined and drilled resulting in a more precise fit.
As you can see, titanium watches are unique, light, and durable. There is a style for each taste and budget.
