Getting the right office furniture is not always easy. The office furniture you use says a lot about the business you are running and the type of person you are. The office décor gives people an impression of you and sets their expectations to a certain level even if it is not necessarily true.

The office furniture often precedes what most people consider the first impression. By this I mean that the client or potential client rarely meets the business person the moment they walk in to an office. Chances are the reception staff will not even be the first thing to gain notice.

When a client comes in to an office for the first time, or any time for that matter, it is the office furniture that stands out. This is their first impression before their first impression.

To make sense of this and put it in perspective try to think of the extreme ends of the possible situations. Imagine a client walking into an office with furnishings that do not match, look second hand and are visible tattered or even falling apart. Before they even meet the staff they are expecting a financially poor institution. They are perhaps anticipating people that do not care much for appearance or do not have a care for quality.

If the office furniture, however, is of high quality, clean and neatly arranged the client will have the opposite impression. They are already expecting to be meeting people with taste and an eye for detail. When you come out to greet the client everything you do will only add to the good impression already made; if something goes wrong it can easily be psychologically offset by the feeling of security that the client already has.
