The Art of Pushing Three Shopping Carts
By: Lance Winslow
As big retailers keep getting bigger and bigger some are like an entire Regional Mall in one store; they have groceries, garden, clothes and well basically some of these places have everything. Take this Kansas City, Missouri Hyper-Wal-Mart. What is a Hyper-Wal-Mart you ask?
Well there are only a few in the country so far, but it is a test market that Wal-Mart is now doing. I am guessing there is something like 188,000 skews or items and about 8-football fields worth of store. Huge is an understatement, as this store is like a Super Wal-Mart on Steroids.
Okay so now you know that everything you could ever want is all in one place, now for the big problem one I had never thought of until today. How do you push 3 shopping carts? Let me tell you this is not so easy because I picked up my non-food purchases first right; makes sense and then took them into the food area.
I know what you are thinking; major traffic jam and the shopper from hell right? Actually the isles are bigger than normal so I was able to stay out of everyone’s way, well pretty well anyway. Well I finally left after spending a bundle, but look how much money I saved and I do not have to go shopping again for a month. Consider all this in 2006.
